It’s called Beautifully Broken, and it tells the true story of how “a refugee’s escape, a prisoner’s promise, and a daughter’s painful secret converge as three fathers fight to save their families”…
Nashville-based, award-winning music video director Eric Welch makes his feature film debut with Beautifully Broken, which was shot on location in Port Alfred, South Africa, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. (If you’ve seen TobyMac’s “Eye On It”, Carrie Underwood’s “See You Again”, or Mandisa’s “Overcomer”, you know his work).
Welch’s cast includes Scott William Winters (TV’s Lethal Weapon, Good Will Hunting), Benjamin Onyango (God’s Not Dead), Emily Hahn (Toy Story 3), Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight), Jessica Obilom (Trafficked), Caitlin Nicol-Thomas (Nashville), Alan Powell (Quantico), Eugene Khumbanyiwa (District 9), and Tammi Arender (Pitch Perfect 2). Christian music legends Toby McKeehan (aka TobyMac) and Michael W. Smith also show up on screen.
Praise.com’s own, Janet White, has seen Beautifully Broken and had this to say about it: “Our culture is longing to see aesthetically beautiful redemptive stories like this, that inspire. Enjoyed it. Glad I had a box of tissues nearby. I laughed, clapped, and cried.”
Beautifully Broken released on August 24, 2018, and is rated PG-13 for “mature thematic content involving violence and disturbing images, and some drug material”.
