Actor Dennis Quaid‘s currently on the road, doing press junkets to promote his new movie, I Can Only Imagine (based on MercyMe’s multi-platinum song).

In it, he plays the abusive father of the band’s lead singer Bart Millard (played by Broadway actor J. Michael Finley, alongside Oscar winner Cloris Leachman). Quaid’s sharp scenes are the most notable, setting this film up to hit home a big faith message — one all about how God restores and redeems.

While filming in Oklahoma, the Golden Globes-nominated star’s personal faith was so inspired that he picked up a song he’s been writing for his mother and finally finished it. Check it out…

I Can Only Imagine opens in movie theaters nationwide on Friday, March 16, 2018. It’s rated PG for “thematic elements including some violence” and is co-directed by brothers Jon and Andrew Erwin (Mom’s Night Out, Woodlawn, October Baby).
