“Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples.” Psalm 96:3
As followers of Jesus, we are all called to courageously share the love of Jesus to the nations of the Earth. Before He ascended to Heaven, Jesus commanded His disciples to “go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all Creation” (Mark 16:15).
The ‘all Creation’ part can either be across the world, in a foreign country that has never heard the name of Jesus, or your next-door neighbor, who is going through a hard time and needs to be reminded of the love of God. The entire world is crying out for a revelation of who God is and is waiting for someone to tell them!
The song “I Will Tell Nations” was actually written as we were walking as a family on our 15-acre property in Northern California sharing about our favorite places to travel. My 6-year-old daughter, Keturah, was reminding us of our recent trip to Indonesia (one of the most unreached countries on Earth) and how she wanted to sing loud enough to tell the entire nation about Jesus.
As we were walking along with my ukulele on the trail, we started singing, “I will tell the nations of what you’ve done. I can hear creation shouting at the top of her lungs!” This melody and anthem became the chorus for a brand-new song that my friends Amanda Cook and Steffany Gretzinger helped us finish.
But, it all started with a genuine desire to see the name of Jesus known in every nation, tribe, and tongue. May we be filled with courage, love, and boldness today to share the love of God with whomever we meet!
