Today is a new day!!
Most of the time when we say this, it’s because yesterday was not such a good day – a day that we would rather forget. Maybe we missed out on that
But, should we?
The Bible is chock full of examples of people who had really bad days. Daniel was having a pretty bad day when jealous co-workers conspired to have him thrown into a lion’s den. Peter wasn’t at his best when he denied Jesus. Paul had a whole lot of tough days sitting in prisons, or being whipped, or even stoned.
So, what was it that allowed these men to make it through these tough times?
Is God still God on your tough days? Does faith change based on our circumstances?
It’s easy to have faith when life is comfortable. But, isn’t real faith shown more in difficulty? Don’t we have to rely on God more when we are hurting, or in terrible circumstances?
Jesus says that there is no greater love than a man laying down his life for a friend (John 15:13). Wouldn’t dying for someone else constitute “a bad day”?
Maybe we should be thanking God for our bad days, not forgetting them. Maybe we should see them as opportunities to show our faith, courage, and our love for others. It is possible that our light will shine brighter in the darkness of a tough season, a bad day, or even in the midst of tragedy.
Sometimes, we forget that Daniel was in a DEN OF LIONS before God stepped in and did the supernatural! He was willing to be eaten, in order to shine his light.
So, let’s have faith like Daniel. Let’s garner the strength to do unnerving things simply because they are the right things. Let’s have confidence knowing that God is always with us – regardless of what day it is!
